Welcome to Vancouver

What Should I Do First?

Take yourself on a tour of Granville Island

You don’t need to pay a professional tour guide to show you around the beautiful Granville Island. Meander around this food-centric paradise at your leisure, taking in the sights and sampling the food from some of the 70+ eateries!

Enter a land of wonder at the Museum of Anthropology

From aboriginal carvings to ancient cultural artifacts, the enormous collection at the UBC Museum of Anthropology is home to 530,000 archaeological and ethnographic objects from across the earth. Be sure to pay a visit to the Great Hall, an incredible area with ceiling to floor glass walls. Here you will learn about British Columbia's First Nations culture through artwork, totem poles and special events.

The best views of Vancouver

For the best views of Vancouver, be sure not to miss out on the thrilling one mile route up to the peak of Grouse Mountain. This is North America's largest tramway, and provides the most attractive views of downtown Vancouver, surrounding mountains, and the regions’ islands. During the winter you are pretty much guaranteed views of white capped mountains and snow dusted forests.

You’ll love Vancouver if…

You love the beach life

You may not think the words ‘Canada’ and ‘beach’ go hand in hand due to its notorious colder climate, but Vancouver actually has a number of beaches that are all exceptionally popular! Kitsilano beach is one of the most popular and is a perfect waterfront spot for people watching, beach volleyball, bike riding and jogging. There is even a heated saltwater pool!

You love dining with a view

There’s no shortage of restaurants with a view in Vancouver. Whether you are looking for a craft brew, a casual bite or fine dining extravaganza Vancouver has it all covered. Head to any of the tall buildings for great panoramic views, or back to the waterfront to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets.

Where to stay in Vancouver

As with all our major cities, Vancouver isn’t short on places to stay. So, deciding where to stay can be a difficult task, but here are some helpful pointers:

  • Downtown - If you want to be smack back in the middle of the action, Downtown Vancouver is the place for you. With a myriad of luxury and boutique hotels, there are many options for both business and pleasure. This is the best option if you’re not here for a long time. You can really get the most out of your stay, as the great transport system makes it really easy to get around.

  • Gastown, Railtown or Chinatown - These are the places for you if you want the young professional vibe that has a cool, gritty feel to it - in the midst of rising interest of these neighbourhoods.

  • Yaletown - This area has alway had a bustling restaurant scene. It’s right near the water and has some of the most sought after residential buildings. Yaletown has a gentrified vibe and is in perfect location for the a short break.
